Acuity - ANS - term that classifies where the client is on the care continuum, from
being highly dependent on complex nursing care to being independent in self-care at
the other end of the continuum.
\Alternating rhythms - ANS - signifies moving back and forth between the immediate &
long-term meanings of behavior, considering the past.
\Caring - ANS - sharing deep & genuine concern about the welfare of another person.
\Caring practice - ANS - involves connection, mutual recognition, and involvement
between nurse & client.
\commitment - ANS - the deliberate choice to act in accordance with one's desires as
well as obligations, resulting in investment of self in a task or cause
\compassion - ANS - awareness of one's relationship to others, sharing their joys,
sorrows, pain, and accomplishments.
\competence - ANS - having the "knowledge, judgment, skills, energy, experience and
motivation required to respond adequately to the demands of one's professional
responsibilities.
\Components of the Care Continuum: - ANS - 1.Amount of nursing assistance needed
to physically accomplish ADLs and mobility.
2.Amount of education in self-care activities that client and family need to assume the
care themselves.
\comportment - ANS - appropriate bearing, demeanor, dress, and language that are in
harmony with a caring presence.
\confidence - ANS - comfort with self, client, and others that allows one to build
trusting relationships.
\conscience - ANS - morals, ethics, and an informed sense of right or wrong
