Does not include fractions, decimals, or mixed numbers Prime number - Answers whole number greater than one, only has two factors (itself and 1) Composite number - Answers whole number greater than one, has more than two factors Even number - Answers any integer that can be divided by evenly divided by 2 without leaving a remainder Odd number - Answers any integer that cannot be evenly divided by 2 Decimal number - Answers number that uses decimal point to show the part of the number that is less than one Decimal point - Answers symbol used to separate the ones place from the tenths place in decimals or dollars from cents in currency Decimal place - Answers position of number to the right of the decimal point Base 10 number system - Answers uses two different digits Rational numbers - Answers includes all integers, decimals, and fractions. All terminating/repeating decimals Irrational numbers - Answers cannot be written as fractions or decimals because number of decimal places is infinite and no recurring patterns exist Real numbers - Answers set of all rational and irrational numbers Factors - Answers numbers that are multiplied together to obtain a product Common factor - Answers Number that divides exactly into two or more other numbers Prime factor - Answers A factor that is also a prime number Greatest common factor (GCF) - Answers largest number that is a factor of two or more numbers Least common multiple (LCM) - Answers smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers Rounding - Answers approximation of a number by increasing or decreasing it to the nearest possible exact value of the cutoff digit, 5 or higher round up, 4 or lower round down Addition - Answers increases value of one quantity by the value of the another quantity Subtraction - Answers opposite of addition, decreases value of one quantity by value of another quantity Multiplication - Answers repeated addition, one number tells you how many times to add the other number to itself Division - Answers opposite of multiplication, repeated subtraction, one number tells you how many parts to divide the other number into Exponent - Answers superscript number placed at top right, indicates how many times to multiply base number by it self Order of operations - Answers PEMDAS, multiplication and division/addition and subtraction have equal weight so they are completed left to right in order Laws of exponents - Answers 1) Any number to the power of 1 is equal to itself:

decimals, or mixed numbers

Prime number - Answers whole number greater than one, only has two factors (itself and 1)

Composite number - Answers whole number greater than one, has more than two factors

Even number - Answers any integer that can be divided by evenly divided by 2 without leaving a
remainder

Odd number - Answers any integer that cannot be evenly divided by 2

Decimal number - Answers number that uses decimal point to show the part of the number that is less
than one

Decimal point - Answers symbol used to separate the ones place from the tenths place in decimals or
dollars from cents in currency

Decimal place - Answers position of number to the right of the decimal point

Base 10 number system - Answers uses two different digits

Rational numbers - Answers includes all integers, decimals, and fractions. All terminating/repeating
decimals

Irrational numbers - Answers cannot be written as fractions or decimals because number of decimal
places is infinite and no recurring patterns exist

Real numbers - Answers set of all rational and irrational numbers

Factors - Answers numbers that are multiplied together to obtain a product

Common factor - Answers Number that divides exactly into two or more other numbers

Prime factor - Answers A factor that is also a prime number

Greatest common factor (GCF) - Answers largest number that is a factor of two or more numbers

Least common multiple (LCM) - Answers smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers

Rounding - Answers approximation of a number by increasing or decreasing it to the nearest possible
exact value of the cutoff digit, 5 or higher round up, 4 or lower round down

Addition - Answers increases value of one quantity by the value of the another quantity

Subtraction - Answers opposite of addition, decreases value of one quantity by value of another quantity

, Multiplication - Answers repeated addition, one number tells you how many times to add the other
number to itself

Division - Answers opposite of multiplication, repeated subtraction, one number tells you how many
parts to divide the other number into

Exponent - Answers superscript number placed at top right, indicates how many times to multiply base
number by it self

Order of operations - Answers PEMDAS, multiplication and division/addition and subtraction have equal
weight so they are completed left to right in order

Laws of exponents - Answers 1) Any number to the power of 1 is equal to itself: 𝑎^1 = 𝑎.

2) The number 1 raised to any power is equal to 1: 1^ 𝑛 = 1.

3) Any number raised to the power of 0 is equal to 1: 𝑎^0 = 1.

4) Add exponents to multiply powers of the same base number: 𝑎^ 𝑛 × 𝑎^ 𝑚 = 𝑎^( 𝑛+ 𝑚).

5) Subtract exponents to divide powers of the same number; that is 𝑎^ 𝑛 ÷ 𝑎^ 𝑚 = 𝑎^( 𝑛− 𝑚).

6) Multiply exponents to raise a power to a power: ( 𝑎^ 𝑛)^ 𝑚 = 𝑎^( 𝑛× 𝑚).

7) If multiplied or divided numbers inside parentheses are collectively raised to a power, this is the

same as each individual term being raised to that power: ( 𝑎 × 𝑏)^ 𝑛 = 𝑎^ 𝑛 × 𝑏^ 𝑛; ( 𝑎 ÷ 𝑏)^ 𝑛 = 𝑎^ 𝑛 ÷
𝑏^𝑛

Roots - Answers another way of writing a fractional exponent, √ 𝑎 (with n in the upper left), can be
translated as a^(1/n)

Perfect square - Answers number that has an integer for its square root, there are 10 for numbers 1 to
100

Scientific notation - Answers way of writing larger numbers in a shorter form 𝑎 × 10^ 𝑛, a is greater than
or equal to 1 but less than 10

Fraction - Answers number expressed as one integer (numerator) written above another integer
(denominator) with dividing line b/t them, x/y. Represents quotient of 2 numbers, x divided by y

Equivalent fraction - Answers can manipulate fractions by multiplying numerator and denominator by
same number, have a fraction that is technically equal in value, can also divide numerator and
denominator by same number to create fraction that is equal in value

Common denominator - Answers Manipulate fraction to have two or more fractions with same
denominator, should be LCM of original denominators
