Human behaviour is not random. It is guided by internal motives and external stimuli. These
inner drives and emotional states push us to act in certain ways.
Motivation refers to the internal processes that initiate, guide, and sustain goal-directed
behaviour.
Emotion is a complex state of feeling that results in physical and psychological changes that
influence our behaviour.

1. Biological Motivation
Related to survival needs.
Examples: Hunger, thirst, sleep, sex drive.
Controlled by hypothalamus in the brain.
2. Social Motivation
Related to interaction with society.
Examples: Achievement, affiliation, power, status.
Develop from societal and cultural influences.
3. Personal Motivation
