How will you build relationships with parents, which will help
you to collaborate with them for the benefit of their children's
education, themselves and you? (250-500 words)
Building good and solid parent-teacher relationships is of utmost importance.
Collaborating with parents is not only beneficial to you as a teacher but also to the
parent in ensuring that their child receives the best education aswell. As a teacher you
want to always give your best and ensure that your students actually learn and benefit
from each lesson.
As a parent myself, you know your child better than anyone else. This is why it is
important you build a respectful and strong relationship with parents. Once this is
achieved you are in a good position to gain information you need to help your students
get the most out of their education. You can then both parent and teacher work
together to support your students learning. When everybody is working together in the
best interest of the sudents, the student is likely to reap academic and social benefits
like: regular school attendance, positive school results and a positive attitude towards
school and their teacher.
Establishing a relationshipwith your students parents is a two-way process. Parents
will be encouraged to ask the school and teachers for information and feedback.
Parents can also share their child's special events and achievements outside school.
Even though not all parents can be as involved as they like to be however they can
still let their child know school is important to the family. Talking about school, school
events and its staff sends a message that you value education and are interested in
whats happening for your child at school.
One of the best ways to continue helping your child is to create a supportive
environment for education at home. This might involve simply talking about
schoolwork together, discussing your child’s career plans and ambitions, or talking
through the links between your child’s schoolwork and his future goals.
