Claudio Giovanoli – Institute for Information Systems 2023 8
Starting position: Tarzan is a street fashion label founded in 2001 by Manuel
Rieder and Caesar von Däniken. As a modern street fashion label, Tarzan claims
social responsibility and ecological sustainability at the center of their production,
distribution and sales. Their production partners are located in Slovenia, Portugal,
Turkey and India. Tarzan’s products arrive to Switzerland by water and rail.
They print all their designs in a social factory building in Basel area. Tarzan has
three stores located in Basel, Zurich and St. Gallen and a web shop delivering to
Switzerland. (more information on www.tarzan.ch/Ueber-Uns)
Fictional scenario: In line with the Corporate Sustainability Goals 2025 and the
changing global shopping trends (i.e. higher demand on online shopping), Tarzan
decided to reduce the stores and prioritize online presence and e-commerce. They
also started to promote home office for their office staff as of 2020. Tarzan aims to
reduce carbon footprint of each employee while providing a flexible and versatile
work environment effectively. In order to reach this goal, they have invested for
infrastructure and process optimizations, including new laptops for all the employees,
servers, robotic automation, new ERP and CRM software, to name a few.
As the project team, leading the digital transformation process in Tarzan, you are
asked to select computer models from a catalog that each employment category can
order in order to work efficiently and effectively from home.
