Impressment - Answer The act of the British forcing the American soldiers to join the British
navy. A cofactor that led to the war of 1812. Emphasizes that the British still view America as
part of their empire.
NJ exception - Answer Provided a new variation of people to have the right to vote in the
United States. The new groups covered were all women who were citizens and any black person
who was also a property owner. Caused a backlash among certain people who didn't like the
expansion of rights and led to an apparent fluctuation in rights

U.S. along with the increase of charity organizations.

the rate that cotton was deseeded. Was invented by Eli Whitney. Allowed for less skilled workers
to be hired and work at a more productive rate.
Panic of 1819 - Answer The result of banks loaning and owing a huge sum of money due to
irresponsible loans. The loans were primarily granted to new business owners in the U.S. Also
led to a large loss of land to farmers in the west.
American Anti-Slavery Society - Answer A group of quaker individuals who worked to go
against the ideas of slavery and advocated for their freedom. Did so primarily by boycotting a
series of slave goods such as cotton and plantations as a whole.
Erie Canal - Answer A large man made canal produced by New Yorkers in order to connect the
Hudson river and lake Erie. It was a sign of commercialism and a new rising revolution and
industrialized New York to the west.
Adams-Onis Treaty - Answer A treaty that limited United States and British naval forces
present on the great lakes. Was written by John Quincy Adams and aimed to weaken Natives
and the Spanish who were present also on the U.S. soil.
