The "Corby Curve" is a theoretical model used to explain the relationship between the magnitude of a tectonic hazard and the effectiveness of human management strategies. The model suggests that as the magnitude of an event increases, so does the investment in, and effectiveness of, management strategies. However, beyond a certain "critical threshold," the magnitude of the event becomes so significant that traditional management strategies become ineffective or impossible to implement.
