In this lecture, we covered the appeals and habeas corpus. We learned about appeals of right, discretionary appeals, trials de novo, and interlocutory appeals. We also discussed the appellate process and potential outcomes of appeals, including harmless error. We finished our lecture with a discussion on habeas corpus, including what it is, its purpose, process, and restrictions. We learned about Constitutional rights relevant to criminal procedure, including the Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination, Sixth Amendment right to counsel, and Fourteenth Amendment due process clause.
